This Privacy Policy describes how PollenTracker at pollentracker.app collects, uses, and protects your information.
1. Information we collect
Location data: When you search for a city or allow location access, we use your approximate location solely to display relevant pollen, air quality, and weather forecasts. We do not store precise GPS coordinates on our servers.
Alert data: If you subscribe to daily alerts, we store your email address, selected city, subscription status, delivery status, and unsubscribe status so we can provide the service.
Checkout data: If you choose the optional paid Pro plan, we store the email address, selected city, checkout source, attempt timestamps, and checkout status so we can create and administer checkout and understand purchase conversion. Free alerts begin only after you confirm your email; paid Pro access begins only after Stripe confirms the subscription.
Billing references: For paid alerts, we store Stripe customer and subscription identifiers and billing status. Stripe processes your payment details; PollenTracker does not receive or store your full card number.
Usage data: We collect usage information such as pages visited, interactions, approximate location, device and browser information, and session diagnostics to understand and improve the service.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to provide forecasts and email alerts, process and administer subscriptions, deliver service and payment notices, prevent abuse, analyze performance, and improve PollenTracker.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
3. Third-party services
We use service providers to operate PollenTracker, including Stripe for payments and the customer portal, Resend for email delivery, Vercel for hosting and analytics, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and environmental-data providers such as Open-Meteo. They process information as needed to provide their services.
Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these services.
4. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and browser local storage to remember your preferences (such as selected city and theme) and to support analytics services.
You can clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings at any time, though this may reset your preferences.
5. Data storage and security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Preference data may be stored locally on your device. Alert and billing-reference data is stored in cloud infrastructure for as long as needed to provide the subscription, preserve billing and delivery records, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent abuse.
Unpaid checkout-intent records are deleted 30 days after the latest checkout attempt. If checkout is completed, the corresponding subscription and billing-reference records are retained as described above.
6. Children’s privacy
PollenTracker is designed as a family-friendly tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
7. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. You can unsubscribe from alert emails using the link in any alert and manage billing through Stripe's customer portal.
You may also limit cookies or analytics through your browser settings where available. To exercise other privacy rights, contact us using the information below.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date on this page.
Your continued use of PollenTracker after updated terms take effect means you accept the revised policy.
